Government Support?

The racing industry generally has been struggling for years.

It is believed that the SPT will boost profit considerably, to the great benefit of the racing industry around the world generally and the Australian racing industry in particular.

Indeed, it would seem that the SPT is especially important to some Australian States which have fewer other revenue opportunities available to them than some others (e.g. the industry generally has no poker machine revenue, unlike Victoria).

It is believed that the introduction of the SPT is inevitable eventually and that it has worldwide implications because it is so versatile and it is such a natural fit with the existing totalizator system.

Various TABs, governments and many other parties in Australia have known about the SPT for some time.

Will one or more TABs now move to introduce the SPT?

Will the relevant governments support such a move?

It will be a tragedy for the punter and for the funding of the racing industry if they don't.
